Out with the spooky scary skeletons and in with Mariah Carey, it's time for the Christmas season!
I hope everyone had a wonderful October and are ready to replace the Halloween decor and pumpkin spiced lattes with Christmas decorations and cinnamon spiced latte (if you haven't already)!
New Twitch channel!
As you may have already seen, @Ellie began hosting her WIP devstreams over at our new Twitch channel https://www.twitch.tv/warbound You can find VODs of the past couple streams over there and experience how the game is being made first-hand!
New domain!
With great help from @Fridge #SimpingForEncodic we can now also be found on https://warbound.com For now it simply redirects to our discord website (same as https://warboundgame.com) but in the future we will host a modest website showcasing the game together with important information about it. So far it hasn't been high on the priority list but we have worked a little bit on some designs that we will show in one of the upcoming devlogs ;)
Modification system!
If you've been following the streams you might have already seen that @Ellie , with some valuable help from @Encodic, made significant progress on our weapon modification system. This new system affords us a significant amount of control over weapon properties and statistics via modifications, both soft statistics like recoil and accuracy and hard statistics such as the reload rate and damage. These modifications will underpin Warbound's weapon customisation systems, allowing us to quickly make large, varied sets of interesting modifications for our variety of weapons! We look forward to sharing more details about modifications and their implications on gameplay at a later date.

Warbound theme song.
Last month we had a meeting together with our music composer @Harry to discuss how the main score of the game will be created. We decided to base it on the prototype @Harry made for us a while back (that you can listen to below this paragraph) and work from there.
Keep in mind this is a very early version of the score and a lot of changes will come to it over time. I'm looking forward to keeping you updated as it progresses :)
Procedural Animations
Meanwhile, @Encodic has kept himself busy working on improving our animation pipeline utilising procedural animations. The benefits of using procedural animations is that it allows us to spend less time on mundane things like locomotion animations. Thus cutting down on the amount of animations a weapon requires to be hand crafted giving us more time to focus on more detailed animations like reloads!
For example in the video below the walk bobbing, crouch tilt and weapon sway is fully procedural. The rest are hand crafted.
Early preview of procedural animations, models and animations are not final and are subject to change.
Alongside working on improvements to the animation pipeline, he's kept himself busy introducing animations to the Dynamic Reload System that he developed. The animations are still a work in progress and not final but it shows the system working and is a great advancement.
Early preview of reload animations, models and animations are not final and are subject to change.
Take care and have a good rest of your evening.
Warbound Dev Team.
