Hello everyone, it's been a hot minute.

Progress was a bit slow and there wasn't all that much to post last month, so we decided to skip a devlog. In return, there's lots more to talk about in this one!

Warbound.exe

We have managed to resolve issues that were preventing us from building the game and instead of having to open it in the editor now we have a fancy .exe we can start it from!

This is a critically important step in the process as it allows us to fire up the latest build of the game, test it together as a team and work on changes and improvements based on the test results.

However, yet another issue looms over the horizon, for some reason multiplayer refuses to work on the build despite working in the editor. We're working expediently on resolving this issue so we can move to the next step, and it involves a new map!

Map: Nouvion

In order to test the game, we need something to test it on! As much as our temporary test map works for checking if a gun shoots and if the player can walk, to really fine-tune the features we need something greater. This is why we decided to work on a new map that will, aside from offering some eye candy in the upcoming devlogs, serve as a test bed for gameplay.

The map will consist of 3 distinct areas, The town center including "Cafe Rene", a Chateau used as a field HQ and a train station. Each can house a capture point and the map will support 2 gamemodes, Team-Deathmatch and Domination. And in order to have more things to test out we recently onboarded a new team member, @Siniht

New Team Member

We recently onboarded a @Siniht on to the team. Going forward he will be in charge of creating weapon models for Warbound.

Hello everyone! My name is Nathan and I am a 3D Artist from UK. I specialize in hard surface modeling and I draw my influence from Science Fiction, modern and classic firearms.

I occasionally play Airsoft so I have a pretty decent collection of replicas, which I occasionally use as a reference when working on 3D models! In the past I've worked on some 3D models used for education material, however this is my first experience with videogame development. I'm very excited to be a part of the team and can't wait to show you things I began working on!

Trip to Netherlands

A while ago, the team discussed meeting up in Netherlands for several reasons. Our primary objective is to visit the Overloon War museum, which gives us a great opportunity to document many WWII-era vehicles, tanks and equipment. We wanted to take a lot of pictures, so that we could use them as references going forward.

The second reason is for members of the dev team to meet up in person, hang out and have some drinks!

Finally, we're also going to be meeting with some community members who are interested in hanging out! We'll be in Netherlands from August 28th to August 31st.

If you're interested in stopping by and saying "Hi", shoot us a message!

(For legal reasons we can not accommodate this for anyone under the age of 18)

Shotgun Progress

@Encodic has been making steady progress on the shotgun model, here are a few latest pictures of it! I think it's starting to shape up rather nicely.

Future Plans

With the year coming closer to the end, we've recently had a meeting to go over our long-term and short-term plans for the game. Without boring you with the details, in the short term we are planning to get the map up and running and setting up playtests.

In the long term, however, we're going to be focusing on user experience. This covers everything from logging in for the first time, joining and playing the FPS, earning XP and Credits and basically anything the player experiences while playing the game.

That's it for now, we're very excited about the trip to the Netherlands and opening playtests to our supporters and the community as a whole. While we're not quite ready to provide an exact date to when this will happen, we feel like we are closer than ever to achieving this goal. With Warbound being in development for about a year and a half at this point, I'd like to think we're moving rather fast for a small team of people who are working on the game in their spare time.
